Four Seasons is not Enough
Hikers on Dolly Sods enjoying a day hike.
Four seasons just doesn’t seem like enough when it comes to exploring the outdoors in West Virginia. Cool summers, spectacular falls, flower-filled springs and mild winters paint the state green, gold, rainbow-colored and white with a blanket of fresh-fallen snow – a varied backdrop on which your most vigorous or relaxing outdoors activities can be played out.

Follow along as we show you how to take advantage of the state’s plentiful adventures outdoors, whether “On Wheels” (mountain biking, road cycling, motorcycle touring, ATV trails), “On Foot” (hiking, climbing, caving, horseback riding), “On Water” (snow sports, boating, fishing, rafting) or “Under the Stars” (tent camping, State Park campgrounds, RV parks).

Geocaching offers a little something to everyone. While some "stashes" are hidden in easy to find locations such as museums and park benches, others are hidden in more difficult locations such as mountain trails and streams. It's possible to find a stash hidden in any corner of the State and at several WV State Parks. All you need is a clue, a hand-held GPS unit (Global Positions System) and little determination to find yourself immersed in a new, exciting and healthy challenge. Visit geocaching.com for more information and to find a waypoint near your West Virginia destination.
